Here are a selection of letters of reference from happy patients. This should help to put your mind at ease about the procedure.
Thank you so much for your prompt response – much appreciated!
I’ll never forget the first morning after Lasik, seeing the leaves on the trees in the neighbours back yard! Your practice is the best and will make sure my niece visit you when she is older.
All the best, warmest regards.

Dear Dr Hill,
It has been several months since my surgery and I would just like to add to the list of references to say THANK YOU.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to once again enjoy life without ‘constraints’. It is scary to think how much I missed out on when I wore glasses. I ride a motorcycle to work and back on a daily basis and with glasses (especially in rain weather) the lenses always used to “fog up” and I always had to ride with my helmet visor open which resulted in a cold, wet face and several colds and flu over the years.
This year for the first time I could see even in the rain without having to open my visor and arrive at work/home safely. Even better; I did not get a cold because of all the cold and wet weather using the bike.
The Lasik surgery has changed my life forever and I am so glad that I had it done. No money can ever buy the gift of perfect and unassisted vision ! Your service is fantastic, the change to my lifestyle is amazing and I would gladly recommend your practice and the surgery to anyone.
Dear Dr Hill,
This letter is long over due. There is not a day goes by that I do not think of you, this is meant in an innocuous way.
Each day I wake is for me a joy, as I do not have to hunt for my specs, which often fell off the side table during the night. It’s wonderful to open the curtains to see almost every leaf on the trees, birds sitting on the branches pruning themselves, every crag on the mountains.
For over 50 years I have worn specs, and of course during my school days was subjected to the usual name calling which in the 50’s and 60’s was the norm for spec wearers.
Nowadays specs are a fashion accessory with every designer label available, just not Hip if one does not have a well-known label.
Thank you, Dr Hill for giving me a new look on life, you may feel sometimes that what you do is routine, believe you me it is far from that, you make I’m sure a lot of people very happy!
Dear Dr Hill,
I like to tell you that my operation was very successful and I am very happy about that. My life got much more quality and comfort. Thank you once again and warm greetings to your entire staff.
Not to sure that you will remember my name but to refresh your memory I had the laser treatment at your clinic in Christmas holiday period. I am the guy that lives in Nigeria.
Well I have nothing but good news to report. My eyes are fine and like you said will continue to improve for around 3 months. Thanks for your help and i have already passed on your name and address to 3 other people who say that they are planing a holiday in Cape Town and would like the operation, so who knows maybe they will come and see you.
Once again thanks. Great job done.
Dear Dr Hill,
Well, its been nearly nine years since my surgery by you. Out of pure curiosity, I decided to do a Google search (again) and lo and behold, my favorite eye surgeon is still practising.
I see new premises is now the order of the day (I still remember battling to find parking behind Cavendish Square). Just a note to say that nearly ten years later, still going strong and for a man of my age I would expect some deterioration – very minor at my age (+45) and I STILL don’t have to wear reading glasses.
As a personal note to anyone considering this surgery – don’t even think of hesitating! I found Dr Hill after an internet search (yes, it was around in those days) and immediately felt comfortable after the very first consultation. And I might add I had seen a few before meeting Dr Hill.
This was a life changing experience for me and will NEVER regret the day I had the surgery done. Just as a footnote, this is an unsolicited mail fom my side after having a long and painfull conversation with a friend in the United States who has after many years of battling the same problem of bottle bottom glasses, finally plucked up the courage to have surgery done.
Again, Dr Hill, thank you for changing my life and giving me the opportunity to lead a normal life – and yes, I’ve passed my eye test each year for my pilot’s licence – one of the reasons for doing the surgery in the first place!
Ek wil net graag vir u nog weer baie baie dankie sê vir alles wat u vir my gedoen het t.o.v. my oog. Baie dankie dat u bereid was orn my, toe my oog al lelik seergekry het onder andere a.g.v. aanhoudende (verkeerde?) behandeling, as pasient in to neem.
Dear Dr. Hill,
Thank you for giving me “new eyes” on the 28 October 2003. It is a phantastic feeling to see everything so sharp. Now I wish you a very good new year 2004 from my winter holidays in Rio de Janeiro. Thank you again!
Dear Dr. Hill,
It’s been almost three months now that I underwent LASIK surgery at your clinic. First of all, my wife and I would like to thank you for having improved my quality of life a great deal. As you said I would, I am able to lead a perfectly normal life without glasses; so many things have changed in such a positive way (except that I now no longer have an excuse for not getting up in the dark when our children call for us during the night … ).
At night, vision is slightly worse than during the day, but I can still drive a car etc. and I am very happy I underwent treatment. Thank you very, very much! Yesterday I went to see my doctor to have my vision checked and the readings were -0.25/105 for the left eye and -0.5/115 for the right eye. My doctor was quite satisfied with that. He asked me to see him again in six months to make sure the correction remains stable.Looking forward to hearing what you think of these readings!
P.S.: As you predicted, my eye pressure is now down to 16.
On 17th June 2003 I had surgery carried out by yourself.
I would like to thank you for the excellent skilled surgery you performed on my eyes. I was a very squirmy & fidgety patient who was nervous about the surgery. I am so delighted that I can see clearly without contacts or glasses.
It has made such a difference to my life. My vision was clear most of the time days after surgery and after a week I could focus brilliantly all the time. I continue to use artificial tears as my follow-up as my Optician told me my eyes were dry.
I was even able to go on holiday four weeks after surgery and only needed sunglasses on the beach. Once again thank you for giving clear vision back to my eyes.
I hope you are well. People normally only come back to complain – therefore I want to make a difference.
You lasered my eyes this year in April. I am so happy with the results, I finally can see – this operation changed my life.
I see the things as they are and this not only in a visual perspective.
I want to truly thank you and your team for your awesome services.
You are so caring and I actually trusted you from the first moment. I recommend you to all my friends when they ask me would do it again – for sure but only with Dr John Hill and his team.
Keep on going to change people life – all my friends will come to you.
Thank you once again. Keep well.
I have made it safely back to New Zealand.
I am loving the new found vision the laser surgery has given me. I couldn’t have asked for for a better result.
Thanks again for all the comms and prep work needed before the procedure. Also please pass on my heartfelt thanks to Dr John Hill and the resst of the staff involved for their professionalism and skill.
You guys made the whole experience a pleasure.
