Letters of reference

Here we will be showing you a selection of letters of reference from happy patients. This should help put your mind at ease about the procedure.

Sent: November 2008

Dear Dr Hill

It has been several months since my surgery and I would just like to add to the list of references to say THANK YOU.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to once again enjoy life without 'constraints'. It is scary to think how much I missed out on when I wore glasses.

I ride a motorcycle to work and back on a daily basis and with glasses (especially in rain weather) the lenses always used to "fog up" and I always had to ride with my helmet visor open which resulted in a cold, wet face and several colds and flu over the years. This year for the first time I could see even in the rain without having to open my visor and arrive at work/home safely. Even better; I did not get a cold because of all the cold and wet weather using the bike.

The Lasik surgery has changed my life forever and I am so glad that I had it done. No money can ever buy the gift of perfect and unassisted vision !

Your service is fantastic, the change to my lifestyle is amazing and I would gladly recommend your practice and the surgery to anyone.

Kindest regards

Donovan Marais

Dear Dr Hill,

This letter is long over due. There is not a day goes by that I do not think of you, this is meant in an innocuous way.

Each day I wake is for me a joy, as I do not have to hunt for my specs, which often fell off the side table during the night. It’s wonderful to open the curtains to see almost every leaf on the trees, birds sitting on the branches pruning themselves, every crag on the mountains.

For over 50 years I have worn specs, and of course during my school days was subjected to the usual name calling which in the 50’s and 60’s was the norm for spec wearers. Nowadays specs are a fashion accessory with every designer label available, just not Hip if one does not have a well-known label.

Thank you, Dr Hill for giving me a new look on life, you may feel sometimes that what you do is routine, believe you me it is far from that, you make I’m sure a lot of people very happy.

Kind regards
Susan Morriss
Greyton.

P.S. Reading specs = +1…!

Dear Dr Hill

Well, its been nearly nine years since my surgery by you.

Out of pure curiosity, I decided to do a Google search (again) and lo and behold, my favorite eye surgeon is still practising. I see new premises is now the order of the day (I still remember battling to find parking behind Cavendish Square).

Just a note to say that nearly ten years later, still going strong and for a man of my age I would expect some deterioration - very minor at my age (+45) and I STILL don't have to wear reading glasses.

As a personal note to anyone considering this surgery - don't even think of hesitating! I found Dr Hill after an internet search (yes, it was around in those days) and immediately felt comfortable after the very first consultation. And I might add I had seen a few before meeting Dr Hill.

This was a life changing experience for me and will NEVER regret the day I had the surgery done.

Just as a footnote, this is an unsolicited mail fom my side after having a long and painfull conversation with a friend in the United States who has after many years of battling the same problem of bottle bottom glasses, finally plucked up the courage to have surgery done.

Again, Dr Hill, thank you for changing my life and giving me the opportunity to lead a normal life - and yes, I've passed my eye test each year for my pilot's licence - one of the reasons for doing the surgery in the first place!

Subject: Readings update

Dear Dr. Hill,

It's been almost three months now that 1 underwent LASIK surgery at your clinic. First of all, my wife and I would like to thank you for having improved my quality of life a great deal. As you said I would, I am able to lead a perfectly normal life without glasses; so many things have changed in such a positive way (except that I now no longer have an excuse for not getting up in the dark when our children call for us during the night ... ). At night, vision is slightly worse than during the day, but I can still drive a car etc. and I am very happy I underwent treatment. Thank you very, very much!

Yesterday I went to see my doctor to have my vision checked and the readings were -0.25/105 for the left eye and -0.5/115 for the right eye. My doctor was quite satisfied with that. He asked me to see him again in six months to make sure the correction remains stable.

Looking forward to hearing what you think of these readings!

Best regards

Amo Greifenstein

P.S.: As you predicted, my eye pressure is now down to 16.

Subject: Thank you!

Dear John,

on 17th June 2003 I had surgery carried out by yourself. I would like to thank you for the excellent skilled surgery you performed on my eyes. I was a very squirmy & fidgety patient who was nervous about the surgery.

I am so delighted that I can see clearly without contacts or glasses. It has made such a difference to my life.

My vision was clear most of the time days after surgery and after a week I could focus brilliantly all the time. I continue to use artificial tears as my follow-up as my Optician told me my eyes were dry.

I was even able to go on holiday four weeks after surgery and only needed sunglasses on the beach.

Once again thank you for giving clear vision back to my eyes.
