About Dr John Hill
(MB BS, DO, FRCS, FRCOphth, MD.)
Qualified as a medical doctor in 1974 and as an eye surgeon in 1979. My special interests are corneal diseases and the treatment of refractive errors. I am a Senior Lecturer and Surgeon at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital. I have received a Doctorate from the University of Cape Town in 1994 for my work on corneal graft rejection and published an international book on the same subject in 1996.
I have published over 50 scientific articles, mostly on corneal diseases and have lectured on all 5 continents. I have been performing refractive surgery since 1984 and was one of the first to use the Excimer Laser in South Africa. I have performed over 12,000 refractive procedures, which include over 9000 lasik cases.
